Open lesson "David of Sassoun" by the Sunday school at Hovhannes Tumanyan's home PDF Print E-mail

A1On December 22, 2018, an open lesson about "David of Sassoun" ("Sasuntsi Davit") epic organized by the "St. Gregory 20181222 131645of Narek" ("Surb Grigor Narekatsi") one-day school of native language took place at the "House of Hovhannes Tumanyan" Center for Education and Science of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia.
The Diocesan officials, accompanied by Rev. Father Tatev Marukyan, assistant pastor to the pastor of the Saint Etchmiadzin church, as well as teachers and parents attended the event. Director of the Educational department of the DSC06895Armenian Diocese in Georgia Eugenia Markosyan spoke about the expansion of the one-day school educational program which give an opportunity to students to get acquainted with the rich treasury of Armenian literature, to learn samples and extracts from native literature that will accompany them throughout their conscious life.20181222 134411
Teacher Tamara Gaboyan touched upon 1000-year-old Armenian epic and spoke about development of the epic by Hovhannes Tumanyan and this lesson held at this center called targeted because in takes place on the eve of Hovhannes 20181222 135042Tumanyan’s 150th anniversary.
Students of the one-day school beautifully told in Armenian language the epic, recited extracts, remembered the sayings of the great Armenians about the "David of Sassoun" epic.  
The attendees shared their impressions of the lesson in particular and the Sunday school in general.
Rev. Father Tatev Marukyan blessed the students of the one-day 20181222 140618school who are although educating in foreign language but they love and appreciate their native language, Armenian literature which expresses philosophical ideas of great Armenians and encourages them to learn their native language and to think in their native language.
Students toured Tumanyan’s house, accompanied by excursion guide Gohar Mazmanyan, listened to the stories about Tumanyan and his house.
