On October 5 in Tbilisi the funeral ofprominentarchivist, famous architectof Tbilisi, distinguished researcher andexpert onthe Armenian historicalmonumentsof Georgia -Sargis(Sergo) Darchinian took place.

From the early morning at Surb Etchmiadzin Church in Avlabari Tbilisi Armenians were bidding farewell to a true son of his nation, who 40 years of his adult life devoted to the study ofArmenian heritagein Georgia, especially in Tbilisi,and created ascience-based, with profound arguments and bringing photographic evidence vast archive.

Under the leadership of the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanian a religious ceremony was observed. After the rite the Head of the Diocese expressed his grief and delivered his blessing to the mourning Armenians of Tbilisi, who had lost a devotedmemberof hisnation. After that Levon Chidilian, the coordinator of the “Hayartun” Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, read out the telegram ofcondolences from RA Minister of Diaspora HranushHakobyan on the death of Sargis Darchinian.

Procession of Tbilisi Armenians accompanyingthe body of a deceased Sargis Darchinyan marched on foot from Surb Etchmiadzin Church in Avlabari to the Tbilisi Pantheon of the Armenian Writers and Public Figures “Khojivank”, where the leaders of Armenian NGOs in Tbilisi, intellectuals, people who knew Sargis Darchinian and appreciated his work delivered a speech and bid him farewell.

After the ceremony the Armenian, who devotedhis entire life in service of hisnation, outstanding archivist Sargis Darchinian found eternal peace next to thegreatrepresentatives ofthe nation. The Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia assumed responsibilityfor the careduringthe entire illnessof the deceasedSargisDarchinianandall the funeral arrangements.
