REVEREND FATHER NAREK GHUSHYAN

Ter NarekReverend Father Narek Ghushyan (baptismal name is Smbat) was born on December 21, 1974 in Akhaltikhe, Georgia.

From 1980 to 1991, Rev. Fr. Narek Ghushyan studied at the Russian secondary school № 2 in Akhaltsikhe, Georgia.

From 1991 to 1995, Rev. Fr. Ghushyan studied at the Gevorkian Theological Seminary of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

On September 27, 1996, he was ordained as a deacon by His Eminence Archbishop Tiran Kyureghyan.

On May 8, 1997, he was consecrated and ordained as a secular (married) priest by His Eminence Archbishop Gevorg Seraidaryan, the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church in Georgia, in the Monastery of St. Gayane in Echmiadzin and given the priestly name of Narek.

After consecration as a secular (married) priest, Rev. Fr. Narek Ghushyan, was appointed at the Vicariate of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Tsalka as the Pastor of Akhaltsikhe region, Georgia, under the authority and supervision of the Vicar General of the Vicariate of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Tsalka.

On August 1, 2003, by the order of His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakanyan, the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church in Georgia, Rev. Fr. Ghushyan was appointed to serve at the Cathedral of St. George in Tbilisi Georgia, as a ceremonial priest, as well as he was serving in other Armenian Churches of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church in Georgia.

On December 28, 2009, Rev. Fr. Narek Ghushyan was appointed to serve at the Cathedral of St. George in Tbilisi, Georgia, as the Grand Sacristan.

On February 1, 2012, Rev. Fr. Narek was reappointed to serve at the Cathedral of St. George in Tbilisi, Georgia, as the Grand Sacristan.

On October 1, 2015, Rev. Fr. Narek Ghushyan was appointed to serve at St. Etchmiadzin Church in Tbilisi, Georgia, as the Pastor, as well as he was appointed as the Assistant of the Primate; managing the inter-religious relations and the external affairs of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church in Georgia.

On September 1, 2016, Rev. Fr. Narek Ghushyan again was reappointed to serve at the Cathedral of St. George in Tbilisi, Georgia, as the Grand Sacristan.

On February 1, 2017, Rev. Fr. Narek Ghushyan was appointed as the Spiritual Pastor of Armenian community in Rustavi, Georgia, and on a joint basis, Rev. Fr. Ghushyan is the Spiritual Manager of Social Service department of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church in Georgia.
