ARCHIMANDRITE KARAPET HNDZATSI (MELIKIAN)

Archimandrite Karapet Hndzatsi (Melikian) was born in Hndzin village of Karin. He was a wise connoisseur of theology, a great poet and good singer.
After 1784, he was consecrated as a Bishop, and later as an Archbishop.
In December 1784, by the order of Gukas I Karnetsi, Catholicos of All Armenians, Archimandrite Karapet Hndzatsi (Melikian) was transferred from Tbilisi to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin to serve in a new position.
Archimandrite Karapet Hndzatsi (Melikian) died in the year 1790 (Biographical Dictionary of Garnik Stepanyan, ed. Yerevan).
