VERY REVEREND ARCHIMANDRITE FATHER KIRAKOS DAVTYAN
Very Reverend Archimandrite Father Kirakos Davtyan (baptismal name is Gevork) was born on May 20, 1982 in Tbilisi, Georgia.
From 1989 to 1999, he studied at the local secondary school № 104 in Tbilisi, Georgia.
From 1999 to 2004, he studied at the Gevorkian Theological Seminary of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, Vagharshapat, Republic of Armenia.
In November 2005, he successfully defended his final thesis entitled “Armenian - Georgian ecclesiastical separation ratification”.
From 2005 to 2006, he worked at the “Karekin I” Theological - Armenian Research Center of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, Vagharshapat, Republic of Armenia.
On February 5, 2005, by the Pontifical order of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, he was consecrated and ordained a celibate priest by His Eminence Archbishop Yeznik Petrosyan and given the priestly of Kirakos.
From 2005 to 2008, he was appointed to serve at the Diocese Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church of Georgia as the Pastor of Holy Savior (Surb Prkich) Church in Batumi, Georgia.
From 2008 to 2012, he has served at the Armenian Diocese of Australia and New Zealand as Spiritual Pastor of the Church of Holy Mother of God in Melbourne, Australia.
From 2013 to 2015, he has served at the Armenian Diocese of New Nakhijevan and Russia as the Assistant to the Primate of the Diocese, Moscow, Russian Federation.
In 2015, under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, Very Rev. Fr. Kirakos Davtyan successfully defended his doctoral thesis for the ecclesiastical degree of Archimandrite (Vardapet). The thesis is entitled: “Comparative analysis of Armenian and Russian church feasts folk ceremonies.” He received the rank of Archimandrite at the St. Mesrop Mashtots Church in Oshakan, Armenia.
From 2015 to 2019, Very Rev. Fr. Davtyan served as the Locum Tenens of the Diocese of Gegharkunik, Gavar, Republic of Armenia.
On July 18, 2019, by the Pontifical order of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, Very Rev. Fr. Kirakos Davtyan, completing his serve as the Locum Tenens of the Diocese in Gegharkunik, has been appointed to serve as the Locum Tenens of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church in Georgia.
From June 1, 2022, by the Pontifical Order of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, Rev. Father Kirakos Davtyan has been appointed to serve as the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia.
