"ALEXANDER MANTASHYANTS" EDUCATION, CULTURAL AND YOUTH CENTER IN BATUMI
In 2015, an educational, cultural, and youth center named after Alexander Mantashyants began its activities in Batumi.
It operates adjacent to the Saint Savior (Surb Prkich) church in Batumi and is the property of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. The building of the Center was purchased with the financial support of the RA government, in particular the Ministry of Diaspora, the renovation works were implemented under the sponsorship of the Jinishian Foundation, and the interior decoration and the property were purchased with the funds of the headquarters of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and the parish community of the Saint Savior Church.
The activity of the Center is aimed at the preservation of the Armenian language in Batumi, the development of national culture, the understanding of Armenian identity, and the deepening of Armenian-Georgian friendship.
The educators at the Center dedicate their efforts to preserving national values, raising Armenian children with a deep connection to their cultural heritage, and fostering a youth community grounded in friendship and a strong sense of national identity.
"Saint Gregory the Illuminator" (Surb Grigor Lusavorich) Preschool, "Mesrop Mashtots" one-day school for learning the Armenian language, "Aghbyur" song and "Heghnar" dance, recitation and drama groups, digital media are operating here. "Anush" Women's Union was formed adjacent to the Surb Prkich Church.
The director of the Center named after Alexander Mantashyants is Sona Hovhannisyan.
She is a psychologist by profession and has the qualifications of a pedagogue-psychologist and a lawyer-psychologist. She also has a master's degree. She worked as a pedagogue-psychologist and was a teacher at the "Mesrop Mashtots" Sunday School of Saint Savior church in Batumi.
