Candlelight Divine Liturgy at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia
On April 3, 2021, Holy Saturday, on the occasion of the Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, a Candlelight Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the churches of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. On those days, in accordance with a special ritual, the lanterns of the temple are lit, the curtain of church’s Holy Altar is opened, the faithful receive the lit candles, and then Divine Liturgy is celebrated.
Rev. Father Tatev Marukyan celebrated Divine Liturgy under the presidency of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia Rev. Father Archimandrite Kirakos Davtyan in Saint Etchmiadzin church in Tbilisi. Diplomats of the RA Embassy in Georgia, representatives of Armenian community in Tbilisi, numerous faithful and guests attended the Divine Liturgy.
During the Divine Liturgy, the celebrant touched upon the mystery of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the defeat of evil and the triumph of good, and then announced the good news of Savior’s Resurrection. The faithful congratulated one another on the occasion of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the Diocesan Primate congratulated the faithful on the occasion of the Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, wished peace, prosperity, progress and development to Georgia and Armenia.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the faithful lit their candles from the lantern and returned home with blessing of Our Savior and the Holy Light of Our Lord's Resurrection. Later the first Home Blessing Service after the Feast of Resurrection of Jesus Christ was offered. Bread, water and salt were blessed.
Divine Liturgies on the occasion of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ were celebrated in all operating churches of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia.
