Cultural Dialogue at Tumanyan’s House

Tbilisi has welcomed distinguished Armenian, Kazakh, and international writers, as well as notable figures from the cultural and public spheres.

With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, a literary event was held on May 6, 2026, at the “House of Hovhannes Tumanyan” Center for Science and Culture in Tbilisi. The meeting was organized as a joint initiative of the Center and the Writers’ Union of Georgia (President: Magvala Gonashvili), within the framework of the annual international festival “Poetry First.”

Under the hospitable roof of the great son of Lori, the venue brought together cultural figures and poetry lovers from Armenia, Kazakhstan, Italy, and Latvia, united by a shared commitment to strengthening Armenian–Georgian–Kazakh cultural ties. At the heart of the event was the presentation of newly published original works dedicated to Georgia. The books were introduced by distinguished authors Edward Militonyan (President of the Writers’ Union of Armenia, poet and prose writer), Galim Zhayliban (renowned Kazakh poet), and Saule Abisheva (Professor at the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University).

For their contribution to strengthening Armenian–Georgian literary ties and fostering the brotherly relations between the two peoples, several individuals were awarded the Sayat-Nova Certificate of Appreciation. Among them were His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia; Armen Bayanduryan, General and Artistic Director of the Petros Adamian Tbilisi State Armenian Drama Theatre; Vahan Bayburtyan, Editor-in-Chief of the newsletter “Vrastan” (Georgia), and others.

During the meeting, contemporary poetry was recited, followed by an engaging and informal discussion on the role of literature and the importance of cultural exchange between nations. Such international initiatives once again reaffirm the mission of the Tumanyan House as a vibrant platform where diverse cultures and creative voices come together.
