Divine Liturgy on Feast of St. Sarkis

On January 31, 2026, on the day of the commemoration of St. Sarkis the Captain, his son Mardiros, and his 14 soldiers-companions, a festive Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the St. Gevorg Cathedral of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the Rev. Father Husik Harutyunyan,  under the presidency of His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia.

The church was filled with the faithful. The Holy Altar was adorned with a large painting depicting St. Sarkis, his son, and his companions, which filled the House of God with a special sense of reverence. Many young people were present, having come to pray in memory of the Saint and to seek his intercession.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the Diocesan Primate, in his sermon, reflected on the martyrdom of St. Sarkis the Captain and his companions for the Christian faith. He spoke about the spiritual meaning of the feast, drew attention to the importance of living a worthy life and serving one’s sacred vows with devotion, and urged the faithful to help the poor and the needy, to stand by those in danger and those in distress, and to live by the example of St. Sarkis and his companions.

His Grace Bishop Kirakos extended his congratulations to all those named Sarkis and Mardiros on the occasion of their name day, offered words of blessing and good wishes to all young people, and offered the Service of Blessing of the Youth.
