Documentary Film Dedicated to Sergei Parajanov Screened from the “Our Great Figures” Series
On December 21, 2025, with the blessing and presence of His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, a documentary film dedicated to the world-renowned film director Sergei Parajanov was screened at the Diocesan “Hayartun” Cultural and Youth Center.
The event opened with an insightful introductory address by Yenok Tadevosyan, President of the Union of Armenian Intellectuals of Georgia, who, having received the Primate’s blessing, reflected on the difficult life journey of Sergei Parajanov, an iconic figure of Tbilisi, and on his unique cinematic works, which have secured a lasting place in the treasury of world cinema.
Through rich commentary, the documentary film turns the pages of the great filmmaker’s life, bringing to light authentic events supported by documentary evidence. Although the Tbilisi-Armenian art-loving community is well acquainted with the films of Sergei Parajanov, the re-screened excerpts from “Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors”, “The Color of Pomegranates”, and his other works were once again deeply impressive for the audience.
At the conclusion of the screening, words of gratitude were once again expressed to the Republic of Armenia’s Grand Candy company, which consistently provides the Tbilisi-Armenian community with the opportunity to watch similar documentary films from the “Our Great Figures” series at the Diocesan “Hayartun” Center.
