His Holiness and Beatitude Illia II received the Vicar of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia
On September 13, 2019, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Illia II hosted the Vicar of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, Rev. Father Kirakos Davtyan in the Patriarchate in Tbilisi.
The Diocesan Vicar was accompanied by the advisor of the Diocesan Vicar Armen Gevorgyan, editor of "Vrastan" ("Georgia") newsletter and vice president of the Union of Armenians in Georgia Van Bayburdyan, head of the Legal Affairs and Cooperation Department of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia Michael Avagyan.
The aim of the meeting was acquaintance. The Vicar of the Armenian Diocese expressed his respect to Illia II and his deep gratitude for reception, as well as conveyed warm wishes and brotherly love of the Catholicos of All Armenians, Who always remember the Georgian Patriarch in his prayers.
The Diocesan Vicar attached great importance to the millenniums-long friendship of the Armenian and Georgian churches, highlighted that the cooperation the Headquarters of the Armenian Church and Patriarchate of the Georgian Orthodox Church has always been and will continue to be consistently and the issues of mutual interest will find common solutions based on brotherly spirit and Christian love.
Illia II asked the Vicar to convey His brotherly love and warm greetings to His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, and informed that He highly appreciates efforts of the Armenian Catholicos to deepen Armenian-Georgian church relations and expresses his full support for the His Holiness Pontifical holy mission.
The Patriarch of the Georgian Church highlighted the steadfastness of the friendship of the ancient Armenian and Georgian Churches which will be established on mutual love, respect and cooperation.
The Leader of the Georgian Church congratulated the Vicar on the occasion of appointment to serve in the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, wished him God-pleasing and devoted service and expressed his support to the cooperation between two Christian churches.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia conveyed his blessings to the Armenian faithful.
Issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting. The meeting was held in a warm atmosphere saturated with Christian love.
