On Hovhannes Tumanyan’s 101st death anniversary, flowers were laid on his immortal grave
On March 23, 2024, at the initiative of the "House of Hovhannes Tumanyan" Center for Science and Culture of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and with the blessing of Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, a cozy commemorative event dedicated to the 101st death anniversary of the great folk poet took place in Tbilisi.
Hovhannes Tumanyan died on March 23. On that day of remembrance, the grave of the immortal poet was decorated with flowers at the Pantheon of the Armenian Writers and Public Figures “Khojivank” in Tbilisi, and a memorial service was offered for the peace of his soul.
The hall of the poet's former apartment was crowded. Fans of literature, admirers of Tumanyan's poetry, guests, and residents of Tbilisi were present.
The commemorative event took place here, under Tumanyan's apartment’s roof, where the breath and spirit of the poet of All Armenians live on, like a burning light.
The attendees listened with interest "Hovhannes Tumanyan and Komitas" speech delivered by Rev. Father Kirakos Simonyan, spiritual superintendent of the "House of Hovhannes Tumanyan" Center for Science and Culture.
Artistic performances of Kima and Natalie Ohanyans from Yerevan and soloists of "Armenian Community of Georgia" NGO Lamara Davtyan and Davit Maghalov were remarkable.
At the conclusion of the event, words of appreciation were addressed to the Ohanyan sisters, who are arriving in Tbilisi on a special occasion - to perform in Tumanyan's former apartment and participate in various events held here.
With the wish of success, the Letter of Blessing issued by the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, was handed over to Kima and Natalie Ohanyans. This brought endless joy to talented girls and art-loving Ohanyan parents.
