“Parajanov’s Requiem” Album Presentation at “Hayartun” Center

With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, and on the initiative of the Union of Armenians in Georgia, the presentation of the “Parajanov’s Requiem” album took place on May 28, 2025, at the “Hayartun” Center of the Armenian Diocese.
The walls of the Center were adorned with collages and paintings characteristic of Parajanov’s art, brought to life through the creative imagination of the contest participants.
The hall was filled with admirers and enthusiasts of Parajanov’s art, as well as participants from various years of the contest. For them, the album dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Sergei Parajanov’s birth and the 10th anniversary of the “Parajanov’s Requiem” album had become a sacred relic. The album featured the winning and selected works from the contest, along with the biographies of their authors in both Armenian and Georgian.
In her speech, the Director of the Center, Eugenia Markosyan, emphasized the depth of Sergei Parajanov’s art, enriched with Tbilisi’s unique color and spirit, and the uniqueness of his films, which are not only Armenian or Georgian but also masterpieces of world cinema.
Mari Arakelova, President of the Union of Armenians in Georgia, introduced the audience to the history of the album’s creation, emphasizing the competition’s goal of educating new generations in the spirit of Parajanov’s art. She noted that the competition’s expanding reach, from Georgia and Armenia to various European countries, is a result of its success.
The President of the Union of Armenians in Georgia expressed gratitude to the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia for his support in the publication of the “Parajanov’s Requiem” album.
The presentation concluded with a concert by the artistic groups of the “Hayartun” Center.
