The Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the churches of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia
On April 21, 2019, the Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ was celebrated in the Armenian Diocese in Georgia with the participation of a large crowd of the faithful and in accordance with the rules and ceremonies of the Armenian Church. Sacred ceremonies took place in the evening of the Candlelight Divine Liturgy and the day of Easter Feast in Tbilisi, Rustavi, Batumi, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Marneuli, Tsalka and Tetritskharo region with the participation of numerous faithful.
The St. Etchmiadzin church in Avlabari, Tbilisi, the church courtyard and the surrounding area were full of the faithful. The Divine Service and the Blessing of the Four Corners of the Earth (Andastan) were offered in the church. Afterwards, the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan celebrated a Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
In attendance were the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia Ruben Sadoyan, Embassy diplomats, community officials, educational and cultural figures, other famous Armenians and numerous faithful.
The Feast in the Armenian Church in the occasion of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ was honored with the presence of the representatives of Georgian authorities, in particular, Member of Georgian Parliament Davit Chichinadze, State Minister for the Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, First Deputy State Minister Lia Gigauri, Chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues Zaza Vashakhmadze, head of strategic research department Nino Chavchavadze and senior specialist Sergo Parulava.
During the Divine Liturgy, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan read the message of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenian on the occasion of the Feast of the Glorious resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the Diocesan Primate congratulated the faithful on the occasion of the Easter Feast, as on the occasion of the triumph of good over the evil and light over darkness.
Then, a reception took place during which the Diocesan primate also congratulated the Christian people of Georgia on the occasion of Palm Sunday.
In the courtyard of the church, young people, dressed in national costumes, distributed dyed eggs to the faithful.
On Monday, after the Divine Liturgy, a Requiem Service will be offered.
