The Feast of Holy Translators was celebrated at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and Diocesan Saturday school graduates received certificates

On June 29, 2023, at Saint Etchmiadzin church in Avlabari, Armenian Diocese in Georgia, the Feast of Holy Translators, commemoration of Saint Sahak Partev and Saint Mesrop Mashtots was celebrated. The students of “Saint Gregory of Narek” (Surb Grigor Narekatsi) and “Saint Elias Prophet”(Surb Yeghia Margare) attended the festive Divine Liturgy.

Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the church. The celebrant was Rev. Father Samvel Torosyan. During the ceremony, the celebrant preached about Sahak Partev and Mesrop Mashtots, about being enlightened by the holy light of the founders of Armenian education and church bibliography, and about living by their example.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, Rev. Father Samvel congratulated the attendees and conveyed the blessings and congratulations of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, Rev. Father Archimandrite Kirakos Davtyan. Referring to the activities of maintaining the Armenian language and educating Armenians in the Diaspora, Rev. Father expressed his appreciation for the activities of the “Saint Gregory of Narek” and “Saint Elias Prophet” schools of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, which provide an opportunity for Armenians of different ages who are separated from Armenian environment to study their native language, to learn about the pages of Armenian people and Armenian Church history and to return to their roots.

Eugenia Markosyan, Head of the Diocesan “Hayartun” handed over certificates of graduation to the graduates of the 2022-23 academic year of the “Saint Gregory of Narek” Saturday school with a wish to live with Armenian language and stay connected to the Armenian Church.

Tamara Gaboyan, teacher of Armenian language and literature at “Saint Gregory of Narek” Saturday School; Roza Zohrabyan, teacher of Armenian language and literature at “Saint Elias Prophet” Sunday School, history teacher Revik Karapetyan, students of schools, their parents congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to keep their mother language sacred.

It is worth reminding that there are two one-day schools in the "Hayartun" Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, where those who want can learn the Armenian language and Armenian literature, as well as about the history of the Armenian Church and Armenian people. Training here lasts two years. Armenians aged ten and older who do not know their mother tongue have the opportunity to learn Armenian in these schools. Studying is free.
