The Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia

On April 17, 2022, the Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ was celebrated with the participation of a large number of faithful, in accordance with the rules of the Armenian Church.

The courtyards and nearby areas of the Cathedral of Saint George (Surb Gevork) and Saint Etchmiadzin church in Avlabari were full of faithful. The faithful were coming with their families, bringing dyed eggs on the occasion of the fest, sweets and baskets decorated with candles. The Divine Liturgy was attended by community officials, educational and cultural public figures, and many Armenians.

 Zaza Vashakhmadze, Chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues and the Agency staff members attended the Divine Liturgy celebrated on the occasion of the Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

The festive day in churches started with Divine Service and Blessing of the Four Corners of the Earth (Andastan). The Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, Rev. Father Archimandrite Kirakos Davtyan, celebrated Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ at the Diocesan Cathedral of Saint George.

During the Divine Liturgy, the celebrant Rev. Father read the message of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians on the occasion of the Easter Feast.

In his sermon dedicated to the mystery of the Easter Feast, the Diocesan Primate mentioned that the Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ is the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness. Rev. Father wished that the triumph of good would bring light to Armenia and Georgia, to establish peace in Ukraine, to keep countries and peoples from the horrors of war. The celebrant addressed his congratulations to Christian people of Georgia who today were celebrating Palm Sunday.

A festive reception took place at the church courtyard, the faithful congratulated each other on the occasion of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, praying and asking for peace in the world and health for all.

Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ was celebrated in Armenian churches and spiritual centers of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia in Batumi, Rustavi, Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli regions. Everywhere officials and faithful of various nationalities came to congratulate Armenian faithful on Easter.

On Monday, after Divine Liturgy, Requiem Service will be offered in churches.
