Traditional torchlight procession dedicated to the 109th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide
On April 23, 2024, the traditional protest action and commemoration ceremony dedicated to the 109th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide started from the "Isani" district, in the capital city of Tbilisi, Georgia.
Armenians gathered in the area near the "Isani" metro station, men and women, with torches and lit candles, accompanied by martial songs and music, with banners and slogans of "recognize, condemn" and "compensate" in different languages, marched towards Saint Etchmiadzin church in Avlabari.
Participants of the torchlight procession laid flowers on the cross-stone (khachkar) installed in memory of the Genocide martyrs in the church courtyard and listened to the commemorative speech of Rev. Father Kirakos Simonyan inside the church.
Events dedicated to the 109th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide are being held by the initiative and organization of the Armenian Embassy in Georgia, the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, and the “Armenian Community of Georgia” NGO.
