Armenian Diocese in Georgia Hosted Students and Teachers of Kajaran Art School in Syunik Region

Within the framework of the friendly relations established between the “Hayartun” Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and various educational institutions of Syunik Province in the Republic of Armenia, and with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, students of the Art School in Kajaran, accompanied by their teachers and parents, were hosted in Tbilisi from May 2 to 4, 2025.

The hall of the “Hayartun” Center was crowded with schoolchildren and adult attendees.

Eugenia Martirosyan, Director of “Hayartun” Center, conveying the blessing of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, emphasized in her welcoming speech the importance of the visits carried out over the years by various educational and cultural institutions from the Syunik Province to the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, particularly to the “Hayartun” Center. She noted that it was a pleasure for the “Hayartun” Center to host the students of the Kajaran Art School.

Director of the Art School, Armine Tumanyan, expressed her gratitude for the warm hospitality and noted that their aim was to familiarize the younger generation with the Armenian heritage of Tbilisi. She also highlighted the importance of the fact that the participants were selected from those visiting the capital of Georgia for the first time.

The children from Kajaran delighted their peers with talented and skillful performances of Hovhannes Tumanyan’s fairy tales “The Liar”, “The Death of Kikos”, “Barekendan” (directed by teacher Tigran Ghukasyan), which were warmly received by both the Armenian schoolchildren from Tbilisi and the adult audience.

The event was concluded by Rev. Father Kirakos Simonyan, who conveyed the good news of the Holy Resurrection to the attendees and wished them to love their homeland, remain faithful to their beliefs, and preserve and protect our language and culture.

As part of their visit, the Kajaran guests toured Hovhannes Tumanyan’s former apartment and visited the Pantheon of Armenian Writers and Public Figures “Khojivank”, where Armenian writers and public figures are buried.
