Children’s Day was Joyful Celebration in Armenian Community of Tbilisi

On June 1, 2025, many countries around the world celebrated International Children’s Day. It was also a festive occasion for Armenian children living in Georgia, both in the capital and in different regions. With the blessing and support of His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, various events were organized to make the children happy and surprise them with joyful moments.

Around 100 children gathered in the festively decorated hall of the Diocesean “Hayartun” Center. Among them were students not only from the “St. Moses of Khoren” (Surb Movses Khorenatsi) preschool and the Center’s Art Group (led by teacher Anna Karapetyan), but also from the drawing group of the “Armenian Community in Georgia” public organization (teacher Alla Antonyan, president Arthur Mirzoyan), as well as scouts from the isolated area of Homenetmen Tbilisi (led by brother Hakob Lamazyan).

The day began with a congratulatory message from the Director of the Center, Eugenia Markosyan, who conveyed the Primate’s paternal blessing. Soon after, the sound of music filled the air, along with cheerful children’s songs and dances. Hosts Henrik Petrosyan and Aram Mikayelyan engaged everyone, young and old, in games and contests, creating a joyful and lively atmosphere.

Soon, the children were divided into three groups. Accompanied by teacher Aida Bazoyan-Surmalyan, one group headed to the courtyard of St. Etchmiadzin Church in Avlabari, where the children began drawing their imaginations on the pavement, which was also an expression of their desire for peace.

The Art Group of the “Hayartun” Center appeared in creative costumes and masks, featuring little paper figures made from cardboard. Through a lively group dance, they brought joy to their peers. At the end of their performance, they exchanged handmade fans and crowns, gifting them to one another. The third group, under the guidance of teacher Arnela Malkhasyan, was busy crafting various jewelry pieces out of beads. It was heartwarming to see how the children lovingly exchanged their handmade creations, gifting them to one another with joy.

At the end, all the children joined in the fun with soap bubbles and various games, led by teachers Tatevik Sahakyan, Nane Oganesyan, and Janetta Baghdasaryan.

The day at the “Hayartun” Center concluded with a sweet treat of ice cream for all the children from Eugenia.
