Feast of Holy Nativity and Theophany of Our Lord Jesus Christ Celebrated at Armenian Diocese in Georgia
On January 6, the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church celebrated the Feast of the Holy Nativity and Theophany of Our Lord Jesus Christ, which commemorates the birth and baptism of Jesus. God became a human.
The first major feast of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church was celebrated with Divine Liturgy at the operating churches of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia.
From early morning, the faithful, together with their families, filled with festive joy, hurried to the Armenian Church to attend the Divine Liturgy.
On the occasion of the Feast of the Holy Nativity and Theophany, a festive Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Cathedral of Saint George in Tbilisi under the presidency of His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Rev. Father Kiros Simonyan, while the celebrant at the Saint Etchmiadzin Church in Avlabari was Rev. Father Hovsep Harutyunyan.
During the Divine Liturgy, the Diocesan Primate read the message of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, on the occasion of the Feast of Holy Nativity and Theophany of Our Lord Jesus Christ, which was read in churches, and the Glad Tidings of the Birth of Jesus and the Theophany were proclaimed.
Blessing of Water Service was offered under the presidency of the Diocesan Primate and with the participation of the clergy at the Cathedral of Saint George. According to the tradition of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, the cross-bearer of the Cathedral of Saint George once again became the devoted Armenian faithful Arkadi Hovakimyan, while the honor of serving as cross-bearer Saint Etchmiadzin church of Avlabari was bestowed upon the devoted faithful Khachatur Ter-Balyan.
The Feast of Holy Nativity and Theophany of Our Lord Jesus Christ was celebrated with Divine Liturgy, and the Blessing of Water Service was offered in Saint Savior (Surb Prkich) Church in Batumi, Saint Gregory the Illuminator Church in Akhaltsikhe, Holy Cross (Surb Khach) Church in Akhalkalaki, Saint Sarkis Church in Ninotsminda, and in the other Armenian churches.
