Feast of Holy Translators Celebrated in Tbilisi with Divine Liturgy and Awarding of Armenian Language Certificates
On June 25, 2026, the Feast of the Holy Translators, commemorating St. Sahak Partev and St. Mesrop Mashtots, was celebrated with a festive Divine Liturgy at the Holy Etchmiadzin Church in Avlabari district, Tbilisi. The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Rev. Father Kirakos Simonyan, under the presidency of His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia.
Present at the Divine Liturgy were the graduates of the current year from the Armenian language programs of the “Hayartun” Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia (Director: Eugenia Markosyan), including the “St. Gregory of Narek” Saturday school (teacher: Tamara Gaboyan) and the “St. Elijah the Prophet” Sunday school (teacher: Roza Zohrabyan).
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the Diocesan Primate congratulated the faithful on the Feast of the Holy Translators. Referring to the nationally important mission of preserving the Armenian language and providing Armenian upbringing in the Diaspora, His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan highly appreciated the activities of the Diocese’s two-year Armenian language schools. These programs offer Armenians of different ages, who have become detached from the language, the opportunity to learn the uniquely Armenian script, the classical Armenian language, and to reconnect with their roots.
In a message encouraging the graduates to embrace the Armenian language in their daily lives and remain connected to the Armenian Church, His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan presented the school certificates of completion to the graduates, along with illustrated Children’s Bibles.
The graduates expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn their mother tongue and for the care shown to them, and performed recitations.
