Film Series Dedicated to Memory of ZhanKhach Began with Video Screening at “Hayartun” Center

On May 31, 2025, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, the film series titled “Let Us Know Our Worthy Figures” was launched at the Diocesan “Hayartun” Center. The first video was dedicated to the creative life and memory of the late gifted Armenian artist ZhanKhach, who was born in Tbilisi.

The initiative for the film series belongs to Gurgen Mkhitaryan, a candidate of medical sciences and a well-known figure among the Armenian community in Georgia. The co-author is the artist Eduard Mesropyan.

Perhaps the current generation knows very little or nothing at all about the talented painter Varuzhan Khachatryan, ZhanKhach. They are unfamiliar with his deeply imaginative, richly colored, and masterfully executed works, which portray thoughtful, psychological, and biblical themes rooted in love, beauty, faith, and wisdom.

The paintings displayed in the hall transported the audience into the depths of the talented artist’s works, their color combinations, and their heavenly content. The video film aims to revive and honor the memory and greatness of ZhanKhach.

The film is a documentary, rich with factual material, recollections, evaluations of his art, and a showcase of his unique paintings.

The hall was crowded with an audience that included cultural figures from various nations, all of whom unanimously emphasized the importance of conveying and spreading the patriotic, ethnographic, and spiritual pathos of ZhanKhach’s paintings to future generations. The speakers, Harutyun Khudanyan, a representative of the National Academy of Sciences in Yerevan; journalist Aida Babajanova; Susanna Khachatryan, Head of the Diocesan Press Department; and Van Bayburtyan, editor of the “Vrastan” (Georgia) newspaper, unanimously urged the author and co-author to continue working on the film series and to immortalize the memory of other prominent figures of the Armenian community in Georgia.

Rev. Father Samvel Torosyan offered his blessing to the attendees and concluded the event. Conveying the blessing and good wishes of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, he reflected on the comprehensiveness of ZhanKhach’s creative world and his inner spiritual voice that speaks to God. He ended his remarks with the words: “A person grows by honoring the great.”
