Graduation Event at St. Moses of Khoren Preschool
On June 12, 2026, the graduation event of the senior group of the St. Moses of Khoren (Surb Movses Khorenatsi) Preschool of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia was held at the “Hayartun” Center. The beautifully decorated hall was filled with an Armenian spirit, featuring a scenic backdrop of the Armenian Highlands and Mount Ararat, along with colorful balloons. Teachers, parents, guests, and representatives of the Armenian community of Tbilisi gathered in the hall to celebrate the occasion.
Dressed in traditional Armenian-patterned attire, the children opened the event by reciting the Lord’s Prayer under the leadership of Rev. Father Kirakos Simonyan, demonstrating one of the daily traditions practiced at the preschool. Opening the event, the director of “Hayartun” Center, Eugenia Markosyan, expressed her gratitude to His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, whose fatherly blessing, good wishes, and continued support have guided the St. Moses of Khoren Preschool throughout the year. Thanks to his care and attention, the preschool is this year sending its 14th graduating class on their journey into the world of knowledge.
The first step toward receiving an Armenian education is learning our precious native language, mastering the Mesropian alphabet, and learning to think and grow through one’s mother tongue. This was beautifully reflected in the literary performance titled “The Coronation of the Letters,” through which the graduates showcased the beauty, resonance, profound meaning, and dignity of the Armenian alphabet created by Mesrop Mashtots. As the children completed their recitation of the Armenian alphabet, each of them was adorned with a floral wreath. The event also featured the children’s recitations, performances of traditional Armenian songs, and spirited Armenian folk dances.
The 16 graduates of the St. Moses of Khoren Preschool will take the next step in their educational journey as they begin school at Tbilisi’s Armenian School No. 104 and Georgian-Armenian School No. 103.
The guests in attendance — Levon Chidilyan, Karine Manukyan, as well as teachers Lilit Karagyozyan and Emma Hovhannisyan from Schools No. 104 and No. 103, who will serve as the children’s first educators in Armenian language and upbringing — together with the parents of the preschoolers, highly praised the graduates’ level of preparedness, the strong foundation laid for becoming true Armenians, and the contribution made to their academic development. They also expressed their gratitude to Eugenia Markosyan, educators Tatevik Sahakyan and Aida Bazoyan-Surmalian, and caregiver Yerinaz Martirosyan.
At the end of the event, all graduates received their certificates of completion from the St. Moses of Khoren Preschool, blessed and presented by Rev. Father Kirakos Simonyan, along with class photos that preserve memories of their early childhood years. In addition, Karen Yeritsyan, Director of the Diocesan Administrative Department, distributed “Good Samaritan” gifts to the children.
