Meeting of the RA newly appointed Ambassador to Georgia with the representatives of the Armenian community of Georgia
On September 17, 2022, at the “Hayartun” Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, the meeting of Ashot Smbatyan, RA newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to Georgia with the representatives of the Armenian community of Georgia took place.
The meeting began with the visit of the Ambassador and diplomats to the Saint Etchmiadzin Church in Avlabari. Led by the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, Rev. Father Archimandrite Kirakos Davtyan, the guests viewed the ancient church and listened to the introductory speech about the church's history. Mr. Ambassador lit candles and prayed in the Armenian church.
The meeting with the representatives of the Armenian community in Georgia started with the blessings of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia at the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall in the “Hayartun” Center. After the welcoming and introductory speech of the newly appointed Ambassador, the meeting took place in a question and answer format. The questions raised by the attendees were related to the situation in the Motherland, the aggressive actions unleashed by Azerbaijan against Armenia, Armenian-Georgian relations and the achievements and various issues of the Armenian community in Tbilisi. Mr. Ambassador answered the questions of those present.
The Diocesan Primate summarized the meeting and wished the newly-appointed Ambassador productive activities for the friendship of the two Christian nations and the versatile and successful development of the Armenian-Georgian diplomatic relations.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to Georgia toured the Center preschool. The Ambassador was told about the one-day courses of the Armenian language and the activities of art groups.
