Memorial service and laying of flowers for the martyrs of April 9

Every year on April 9, the multinational people of Georgia honor the memory of the victims of the dispersal of a peaceful rally by thousands in Tbilisi, carried out by the USSR Ministry of Defense troops on that day in 1989.
April 9 is observed in Georgia as a day of national unity, civil harmony, and in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the homeland.
On April 9, 2025, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, and with the participation of representatives from the Armenian community in Tbilisi and members of the "Armenian Community of Georgia" NGO, a memorial service was held for the victims at the khachkar (cross-stone) dedicated to those who died for Georgia's independence, located in Yerevan Park next to the Holy Etchmiadzin Church in Avlabar, Tbilisi.
Rev. Father Samvel Torosyan, joined by the clergy, offered a prayer in memory of the 21 innocent victims, the majority of whom were women. Those present paid their respects by laying flowers and a wreath at the base of the khachkar.
