Memory of Mikhail Loris-Melikov Honored at Armenian Diocese in Georgia

With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, and the initiative of the Union of Armenian Intellectuals of Georgia (President: Yenok Tadevosyan) and the organization of the “Hayartun” Educational and Cultural Center (Director: Eugenia Martirosyan), the commemoration events of the “Our Greats” series continue at the Armenian Diocese of Georgia.

The memorial event held on May 4, 2025, at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia was dedicated to the memory of one of the distinguished Armenians buried in the courtyard of the Cathedral of Saint George in Tbilisi. This tribute was for Mikhail Loris-Melikov, the Armenian-Russian military leader and statesman, who served as the Minister of the Interior in Tsarist Russia.

Following the Sunday Divine Liturgy, under the presidency of His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan and with the participation of clergy and deacons, a memorial service was held at the grave of Mikhail Loris-Melikov, and flowers were placed at his tombstone.

The hall of the “Hayartun” Center in the Armenian Diocese in Georgia was crowded. The Armenians from Tbilisi had gathered to watch a film about Mikhail Loris-Melikov, who was a military, political, and public figure, and a prominent official in Tsarist Russia. The film was incredibly interesting and rich in historical facts.

With gratitude, we note that the documentary films from the “Our Greats” series are continually provided to the “Hayartun” Center by the “Grand Candy” company of the Republic of Armenia.
