Ordination of Scribes at Cathedral of Saint George in Tbilisi

On December 22, 2024, after the Sunday Divine Liturgy, an Ordination of Scribes ceremony was held by His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, at the Cathedral of Saint George in Tbilisi.

The day was truly unique and historic. During the sacred ceremony, accompanied by readings from the Holy Bible and the singing of hymns, 10 spiritual servants from the Armenian churches in Tbilisi and 9 from the Holy Savior (Surb Prkich) Church in Batumi were ordained to the first degree of church service by His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. Notably, the youngest of them, Mikael Sahakyan, is just eight years old, while the oldest, Gagik Movsisyan, is 42.

The holy ceremony was attended by Rev. Father Husik Harutyunyan, Rev. Father Kirakos Simonyan, the pastor of the Batumi Holy Savior Church (Surb Prkich) of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and the spiritual pastor of the Armenians of Adjara, Guria and Imereti Rev. Father Ararat Gumbalyan, deacons Artak Antonyan, Gevorg Avetisyan and the assistant to the pastor of Adjara Albert Arshakyan.

Parents, faithful, and guests attended the solemn ceremony. The Diocesan Primate offered a thoughtful interpretation of the mystery of the scribe's ordination, emphasizing the challenges of the clergyman's duties and highlighting the unique paths and means to overcome them. He also expressed his wish for the scribes to achieve even higher levels of service under the guidance of Almighty God and for the glory of the Armenian Church.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Primate offered his fatherly encouragement and bestowed his blessing upon those who received their degrees.
