The Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ in churches of Armenian Diocese in Georgia
On April 4, 2021, the Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ was celebrated with the participation of a large number of faithful, in accordance with the rules and ceremonies of the Armenian Church. Both in the Candlelight evening and on the Easter Day, sacred ceremonies were held in Tbilisi, Rustavi, Batumi, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Marneuli, Tsalka and Tetritskaro regions with the participation of a big number of faithful.
The courtyards and nearby areas of the Cathedral of Saint George (Surb Gevork) and Saint Etchmiadzin church in Avlabari were full of faithful. The Divine Service was celebrated, Blessing of the Four Corners of the Earth (Andastan) Service was offered, afterwards, under the presidency of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, Rev. Father Archimandrite Kirakos Davtyan, on the occasion of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Pastor of Karmir (Red) and Shahumyan villages in Kvemo Kartli region Rev. Father Zaven Yazichyan celebrated Divine Liturgy.
The Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Armenian Church was attended by representatives of the Georgian authorities, particularly the Divine Liturgy was attended by Sozar Subari, Chairman of the Regional Policy Committee of the Georgian Parliament; Zaza Vashakhmadze, Chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues; Koba Chopliani, coordinator of the Council of National Minorities of the Public Defender (Ombudsman) of Georgia; Izabella Osipova, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Georgian Public Television; Davit Tchitchindaze, former Member of Parliament; as well as diplomats of the RA Embassy in Georgia, community officials, educational and cultural figures, other famous Armenians and numerous faithful.
During the Divine Liturgy, the celebrant Rev. Father read the message of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians on the occasion of the Easter Feast.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the Diocesan Primate congratulated the faithful on the occasion of the Easter feast, as on the occasion of the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness.
Afterwards, the Diocesan Primate received guests. A festive treat was organized by the Godfathers of cross in the courtyards of the churches.
On Monday, after Divine Liturgy, Requiem Service will be offered in churches.
