Educational Visit of Marneuli Schoolchildren to Tbilisi

With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, and within the framework of the Jinishian Memorial Foundation’s program “Civic Dialogue and Action for Change 2025” (coordinator: Emil Sargsyan), the Youth Department of the Diocese organized an educational visit to Tbilisi on July 16, 2025, for students of grades 10–12 from the city of Marneuli. Transportation for the students was provided by Marneuli resident Artur Gogyan.

The schoolchildren’s visit to Tbilisi was rich in experiences. After receiving the blessing of Rev. Father Hovsep Harutyunyan at the Saint Etchmiadzin Church in Avlabari, the students visited the “Hayartun” Educational and Cultural Center, where they were introduced to the center’s diverse activities through a tour led by Director Eugenia Markosyan. A particularly memorable part of the visit was their stop at the Pantheon of Armenian Writers and Public Figures “Khojivank”, where they paid their respects to the memory of prominent Armenian writers and public figures.

Also of great interest was the visit, led by the head of the Diocesan Youth Department, to several notable sites in Tbilisi. Guided tours provided engaging information about the Tbilisi City Assembly (Sakrebulo), the Parliament of Georgia, the April 9 Memorial, and the National Museum. The program concluded with a scenic walk through some of Tbilisi’s most picturesque locations.

The students from Marneuli also visited the former residence of Hovhannes Tumanyan, where tour guide Gohar Mazmanyan introduced them to the prominent Armenian, Georgian, and international figures who had once been hosted in that historic home.

The final stop of the educational visit was the Saint George Cathedral, where the students joined the clergy in prayer. Afterwards, they gathered around a hospitality table to share their impressions of the day. As a memento of the beautiful experience, the students received badges, pens, and notebooks bearing the logos of the Armenian Diocese of Georgia and the Jinishian Memorial Foundation.
