Feast of Annunciation at Holy Etchmiadzin Church in Tbilisi
The Feast of the Annunciation of the Holy Mother of God is a universal Christian feast, observed on April 7. His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, has proclaimed this day as a Day of Blessing for Mothers and for women awaiting the joy of motherhood. It is marked in Armenian churches by the celebration of the Divine Liturgy and various cultural events.
On April 7, 2026, in Tbilisi, at the Holy Etchmiadzin Church in Avlabari, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, a festive Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Rev. Father Kirakos Simonyan.
During the Divine Liturgy, Rev. Father Kirakos Simonyan spoke about the feasts dedicated to the Mother of God and the significance of the Holy Virgin Mary in the Armenian Church. He reflected on the God-given gift and ability of women to give life, the crown of creation. The Mother of God, he emphasized in his sermon, embodies faith, humility, love, and readiness; she is the symbol of the perfect woman.
The celebrant priest congratulated all mothers and sisters on the occasion of the feast and conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the Diocesan Primate.
Divine Liturgies dedicated to the Feast of the Annunciation were also celebrated in the other operating churches of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia.
