Hovhannes Tumanyan’s 102nd death anniversary was commemorated at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia

On March 23, 2025, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, a Response of Souls Service was offered in memory of Hovhannes Tumanyan on his 102nd death anniversary at the Pantheon of Armenian Writers and Public Figures "Khojivank" in Tbilisi. Armenian intellectuals, members of public organizations, and schoolchildren from Tbilisi laid flowers at the poet’s grave.

At the "Hovhannes Tumanyan’s House" Center for Science and Culture of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, a commemorative event was held with the blessing and good wishes of the Primate of the Diocese in Georgia. The event was initiated by tour guides Gohar Mazmanyan and Edita Zorabyan and organized with the efforts of students from Tbilisi Public Armenian School No. 104 (Principal: Irina Zhamkochyan) and No. 103 Georgian-Armenian School (Principal: Archil Chkhaidze). Under the guidance of teachers Lilit Gharagyozyan, Hripsime Yeghshatyan, and Gayane Mkhitaryan, students presented the works of the great national poet, reciting in Armenian, Georgian, and English.
The memorial event featured piano performances by schoolchildren Elizabeth and Veronica Sedrakyans and Aram Khachatryan.
The spiritual superintendent of the "Hovhannes Tumanyan’s House" Center, Rev. Father Kirakos Simonyan, concluded the event by highlighting Tumanyan’s active role in aiding and supporting refugees during the Armenian Genocide, earning him the title of a true "Father" to all orphaned children.
