St. Gregory the Illuminator Church in Chamdura
The existence of the former church in the village of Chamdura, Akhalkalaki region, is mentioned in documents from the 1830s under the name of Surb Harutyun (Holy Resurrection).
Starting in 1852, the church was completely rebuilt, after which it was considered the year of construction. It is known that in 1897, a stone one was planned to replace the wooden belfry of the church.
Thanks to the necessary repairs carried out periodically, the St. Harutyun church has remained standing. However, in 1933, only 3 pairs of anchor stones remained on the site of the church.
And so, in 2002, on the site of the St. Harutyun church in the village of Chamdura, Akhalkalaki region, with the initiative and efforts of the village residents and at the expense of Eduard Mikayelyan, a new church was built and named after St. Gregory the Illuminator (Surb Grigor Lusavorich).
